A Success Story Spanning Decades

The history of ACPS Automotive begins in 1955.

In 1955, Otto Riehle founded a company to manufacture trailer hitches in the town of Möglingen, near Stuttgart, Germany.

Just a few years later, he expanded production to include ski racks.

In the mid-1960s, son Hans Riehle assumed leadership of the company and set it on a course of continuous growth.

In the subsequent years, ACPS Automotive repeatedly demonstrated its technological leadership.

 

› 1985 The world's first removable trailer hitch.

› 1989 The first Windstop wind deflector for convertibles.

› 2000 The world's first swiveling trailer hitch.

2005 marked the third generation of family leadership.

Jörg Riehle, grandson of the founder, takes over the management.

2006 Joint Venture with Bosal International N.V.

2009 The world's first full-electric swiveling trailer hitch.

2012 Bosal takes over 100% of ORIS and is leading the company into the future. Antonius Deelen is appointed Divison Director. 

2015 - IAA Frankfurt. World Premiere; Bosal introduces their patented Fix-Matic Carrier Concept  

2018 - Successful change of ownership. TowerBrook Capital Partners L.P. takes over ACPS Automotive.
